"A fun, grea--*crashes*"
An evil witch princess accidentally sends the Harvest Goddess away through misuse of a spell. The Harvest Sprites then go to help her. By farming and living your life, you have to bring them back! That is the story of the game. It's strange, but it's not very bad. It works well with how open ended Harvest Moon DS is.
In the Harvest Moon games, the basic idea is to farm. You plant crops. You raise animals. You can get married and have a kid. It may not seem too exciting, but it's very fun. This game is so extraordinarily addicting.
There are a wide variety of activities to do in Harvest Moon DS that make it both fun and interesting. You, as I have previously stated, can plant crops, raise animals, and get married. Socializing with other characters is necessary, but often dull. The villagers say the same things over and over! In fact, this game would be a bit better if it was not so repetitive. You do the same thing every in game day. It's fun, but more festivals would have been nice.
Controlling the game is smooth and easy through the use of the DS's touch screen. You can whiz through menus on the bottom screen and farm on the top screen, making the game control remarkably easy.
The graphics are nice. They are fully 2-D and look just like Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town for Gameboy Advance, but are much noticeably better. I really liked the graphics. The sound on the other hand, gets annoying. The music is not great. The same boring tunes play over. And over. Luckily, they only play in certain parts of the town. Unlike the music, the sound effects were actually pretty good. I liked them, for the most part.
You can play this game for a very long time. It goes on forever! There are many wives for you to marry and many things to discover. If you like to unlock everything, this game will last you for a very, very long time. However, as previously stated, this game is too repetitive, so it may get boring ..
Also, this game is extraordinarily glitchy. Glitches range from the game crashing (which is quite common), to corrupted save files, to people looking like pixelly blobs, to the town being empty. The glitches are very annoying, especially the common game crashing. If you do decide to get Harvest Moon DS, be sure to save often!
I really like this game, but the glitches make it only a 7/10.
